---Friday, September 19, 2003--------------------------> yesterday the class did some rolling and falling, as well as a little bit of kicking. lots of blocking. it weird to see new students practice blocking, since it looks so unatural and stiff. i dont know how to get them to relax. one friend told me once that she learned with the analogy that there was a booger on her hand and she had to flick it off. she said it seemed to work, so maybe i'll make them practice that way. we'll see how it works. another one of the students said she had a mental block rolling because she fell on the stairs as a kid and was having trouble rolling over her head and shoulders. i dont really know what advice to give other than to keep practicing and take it slow. any advice?---Friday, September 12, 2003--------------------------> I'm going to try and write in this more consistently now. i'm TAing my own class now... it's pretty fun. right off the bat, i got them to start kihaping because of kenny's advice (more like his trouble trying to get them to kihap). they're been progressing pretty well. dr. ur taught them to backfall, and most seem comfortable... at the very least they're tucking their heads and kihaping. most seem to have trouble getting the timing right. for example, they'll slap before their shoulder blades touch, or they'll slap too late. dont really know how to fix this except to tell them to practice.
